In the Valley of the Dipper

The River Irfon flows from the Cambrian mountains into the Wye at Builth. Its course goes through Abergwesyn, to Llanwrtyd and on to Llangammarch, where I live on a ridge above the river. Here the Cammarch merges into the Irfon and it is also joined at other places by many other rivers and streams such as the Gwesyn and the Dulas, thus making a whole river system in this part of North Brecknockshire.

This diary is an exploration of the river, both my immediate vicinity in Llangammarch and my investigations further afield. It is informed by the fact that my wife is the priest in charge of Blaenau Irfon and Irfon Valley benefices which pretty nearly completely encompasses the whole river system.
